Do you have morning sickness yet?

I am amazed at how many women have asked me that question. It is almost like having it is a rite of passage into motherhood. Well, it has started and now I know what every pregnant women dreads. Thankfully, so far I am able to predict my "worse part of the day" and be prepared.

I have found a great website that lets me know what is going on with the babies each week - it is so much fun to read and see all that is changing and growing. This past week has been a full week. The babies' brain began to form, cranial nerves are formed, the placenta is developing (don't you wonder how it has been getting its nutrition for the last few weeks if this is just forming?) and the babies' eyes, ears, mouth, nose, lips, tongue, and teeth are forming. All this, and it is only a little bigger than a grain of rice! I have continually been amazed at how God chooses to give life - and that He blesses me by letting it take place within my body!

WOW!

So, we are at our second ultrasound, excited to see how the twins were progressing, and Jason exclaims "There's three!", so the nurse, who had not yet even begun to look at the ultrasound screen, begins to check the screen. And then she confirms what Jason had seen. We are in fact pregnant with TRIPLETS! We can hardly believe what is happening before us.

Two weeks ago today we found out we are pregnant - and feel so blessed to be able to experience life being created. I continue to be in awe that God has allowed me to be pregnant - and to see life at the very beginning. Then, a week later we have our first ultrasound and we see two "sacs" - twins! I am astonished and feeling "doubly blessed", even as cliche-ish as that sounds. But shocked that not only would we have one, but two babies! You can't even begin to imagine how I felt, just a week later, as I was laying on the table for my ultrasound when Jason and the nurse point out that there are actually three babies. I am pregnant with triplets.

What a whole new world we are entering! Not only are we becoming parents, but we will have three little ones to look after. Three children that are a gift from the Lord, that He is entrusting us with.

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalm 127:3-5a

We are blessed, indeed.
